Mason & Hamlin established 1854 in Boston, Massachusetts
Mason & Hamlin is considered one of the finest piano makers of all time. Established in Boston, Massachusetts in 1854, Mason & Hamlin began as an organ manufacturer for the first few decades of their history. They began building pianos in the early 1880s, and instantly their instruments were celebrated as some of the finest pianos in the world. Mason & Hamlin introduced several innovations, including the patented ‘tensions resonator’, which set their pianos apart from the competition.  The tone of Mason & Hamlin pianos is typically American — lush, singing, and powerful, not unlike the Steinway in basic character, but with an even more powerful bass and a clearer treble.
This 1914 Mason & Hamlin AA grand piano was built during the Golden Age of the Piano and one of the greatest periods in their history of manufacturing pianos. The instrument has a vibrant tone with a robust and singing sound. New Abel hammers, shanks, and flanges were installed in 2010.
Mason & Hamlin grand pianos have larger soundboards than comparable size pianos from other companies. They achieve this by having a wider tail which allows for a bigger soundboard. So, this piano has as big and rich a sound as a concert grand piano without taking up as much space in your home.
